September: A Time to Rethink Your Purpose

After the intense energy of August, many of us are hoping for a bit of rest and renewal in September. This may or may not play out in our experience, despite the Tarot card "Temperance" showing up and encouraging us to do just that. (Shown here is the Golden Art Nouveau Tarot cards).

In numerology, September is a "5" month. If we add the yearly number 5 (2+0+2+1) to the 9th month of the calendar year, we get "14", and 1+4=5. Yes, lots of fives! In numerology, 5 is the number of change, often quick, unexpected and fast moving. In the Tarot, the 5 card is the Hierophant, or the card of beliefs, community service, and dedication to some sort of cause.

On September 5, 2021, we have a 5 day in a 5 month in a 5 year. This sets the stage for upsets, unexpected changes, and other unforseen events or shifts to change our world. This may be external, such as storms, political unrest, and such, or it could be a complete change of mind or plans within yourself. No matter what the day holds, it may be a good idea to get in nature if you can and really tune in to your highest good and the energy of the Divine.

We can all agree that Mother Nature seems to be a bit out of balance. The Temperance card combined with the Hierophant may be suggesting that we take a look at our earth and do what we can to bring her back into some sort of balance. You may say, "this is too big of a project for me to take on alone!" and that is true! However, if all of us do something small and local to be more in balance with the delicate ecosystem we call home, we will begin to have an effect on the well-being of our planet.

I hear you now! You are saying, "what does this have to do with me? I want to know what to expect in my own little world!"

I would suggest maybe it's time we begin to look at the bigger picture. What kind of a world are we leaving for our children and grandchildren to fix?

Yes, there are a lot of causes which we may take on this month. Maybe we will be called to re-examine what we believe about religion, politics, the state of the world, or even what we believe about our purpose in life. (See August 26 blog). Life as we know it is changing. This month may herald some changes we were not expecting.

On a personal level, maybe this month is a good month to get out in nature and do some meditating about your life, what you believe, where you fit into the jigsaw puzzle of life, and what you can do to make your little corner of the world a better place to be. Maybe you just need to think about what gives you joy and, if you don't feel joy, what you can do to change that!

Remember that our lives are ours to create. But within our ability to create our lives is the world we live in. We can't create a life of joy if there is no world for us to live in.

Perspective is everything.

This month, do one thing that assists Mother Nature in coming back into balance. Pick up litter. Give to a charity that is working on fixing a problem in nature. Recycle.

Look outside yourself for a way you can be of assistance to someone or something in need.

We are all in this game of life together.
